What is your honest opinion of this dress for my cominghome dance?

i really really like it, but what do you think about it? would tights/pantyhose/stockings (i don’t know the difference) look okay with this? I’m not comfortable with my legs enough to wear it without them.

Well, since your asking for an opinion…
It’s definitely cute and fun, and I think it’ll look fine at your dance. BUT (you knew there was a “but”), if you have a choice of something a little more dressy, you might want to save this dress for spring or summer.
Regarding your question about hosiery:
My opinion is that skin-tone, sheer pantyhose would look better than opaque tights with this dress. The light color and bubble hem already give a playful look, and adding opaques would overdo it. If you want, you could use pantyhose with a slight satiny sheen.
Regarding the difference between tights, pantyhose and stockings:
Stockings are just legs; think very long, sheer socks that go up to your waist. Pantyhose and tights include a brief portion that go up to your waist (or hips in some cases). Many brands of pantyhose and tights have a cotton gusset, which allows you to wear them without panties if you choose to do so.
